Sad Update on a previous post

Remember this story? It was about my friend Lennie. He had a great job at a railroad foundry until it went to Mexico after NAFTA (thanks Clinton!). After that he had to sell his condo, moved back home at 50 or so and got a job at Wal-Mart.

The update? I just found out he passed away. He got cancer but without insurance was unable to go to the doctor until it was too late. He is now dead. This is the future many face.

    1. Thanks. I was sad to hear this because unfortunately I found out after the funeral. I hadn’t heard from him in a few months so I assumed he was just doing his thing but never expected to hear he died. He did get diagnosed with emphysema a few years ago but didn’t think he would die. I’m going to go to the cemetery where he is buried and maybe see if the famous ghost that haunts the area is around (or so the story goes, driven down the street many times and never saw him). Anyway his death really does bother me because it symbolizes the middle class dream. Here was a guy with three years of college who managed to get a good job, only to lose it due to politicians greediness.

  1. My condolences. I lost a friend from high school, recently. He was about 53 years old. He was enjoying his life, so at least it ended when he was still happy. It would be nice if we were all so blessed with happiness. I know a number of people who had cancer, and all died from it even though they were covered with health insurance. Most of medical care appears to me to be snake oil.

    1. Thanks. Yes, that’s what bothers me about medical is so many treatments on many things makes it worse. Some works but often makes the problem worse. I have arthritis and they wanted to medicate me but instead I started doing yoga and eating healthier.
